The Iona College Campus Quad

Bryan Uribe ’13, ’15MBA

Bryan’s Iona collegiate experience was a life-changing experience. As a Dominican, and the first person in his family to graduate from college in the United States, he didn’t know what to expect. To put it simply, his first year was a bit of a culture shock. While he was very well-traveled internationally, he was greeted by people from all walks of life from many different cultures, cities, and states which he never considered visiting.

When he was accepted into Iona, Bryan wanted to pursue a degree in computer science, but in his third semester, he quickly realized that he was on the wrong side of the table. He found himself in his Advanced Java Coding class realizing he didn’t want to code for the rest of his life. He wanted to impact organizations, businesses, and people in a very different way. In the middle of his third semester, he spoke to his guidance counselor and decided on pursuing a degree in International Business Management. His mother and father are both successful business owners, and up to that point, he never considered strengthening his business skills, just building software and technology that could change the world.

After graduating in 2013, he immediately pursued his master’s in marketing with an Advanced Certificate in Sports & Entertainment Marketing while working a full-time job at a technology company. He began his career as a sales and marketing intern for a Fortune 2000 technology company that was transitioning from a hardware company to a software and services company. At the end of his internship, he accepted a full-time position as an account executive managing one of the most challenging territories in our branch. After 3 years, he had achieved President’s Club twice and transitioned to a Cloud Products & Services provider for government agencies where he worked for 2 years.

Now, he is currently pursuing a life of entrepreneurship where he manages multiple organizations and investments. Most notably, he is co-founder & CEO of Yofii, Inc. where he develops software to make financial freedom accessible. In his other businesses, he invests in real estate, co-operates an insurance brokerage, and operates as managing partner for a business strategy consultancy.

Recently, he became involved at Iona again as a mentor for the Hynes Institute of Entrepreneurship & Innovation, alumni mentor at the recent Gael to Gael networking event, and working on a millennial alumni board with the Office of Alumni Relations. Iona provided him with a strong education that has helped him overcome many challenges and succeed in environments he never could’ve imagined. He wants to join the Alumni Association Board of Directors to ensure future Iona alumni can receive more value than his class did and can execute on their wildest dreams while increasing our prominence as an educational institution!
