The Iona College Campus Quad

Andrew M. Grascia ’06MS

Andrew’s experience as an Iona graduate student changed his future. He met and learned from fellow students and faculty about parts of the criminal justice world that, so few really get to see. The criminal justice faculty at Iona College pushed him to think outside the box about the complex issues facing society today. Andrew began his career as police officer with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Department and was later promoted to detective. He then left that agency to become a criminal investigator with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, and has worked on complex investigations involving human trafficking, computer intrusions, narcotics, and homicides. The squad in which he was involved the longest is a member of the New York State Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, a task force dedicated to protecting the most vulnerable while online. In his 24 years since joining the District Attorney’s Office, he has risen through the ranks and is now a deputy chief criminal investigator. Recently, Andrew joined the Iona faculty and enjoys helping Iona College teach the next generation of those students dedicated to public service.
