The Iona College Campus Quad

Erika J. Enlund '13

Erika's time at Iona was a testament to her dedication and belief in the Iona community. Majoring in mass communications equipped her with the skills to approach communicating critically and holistically. Since her academic days, Erika has developed her professional and personal career around engaging communications and creating spaces for people to connect. While at Iona, she served as an executive board member of the Student Government Association, member of the Tara Knights Society, orientation leader, Senior Activities co-chair, and a member on several ad-hoc committees on campus. She also partook in several service projects, went on one mission trip, and the Kairos spiritual retreat. Her pride and joy was being the editor-in-chief of the ICANN for two years as well as a resident assistant in the freshman residence hall.

Following graduation, Erika served as an AmeriCorps volunteer in New Orleans and lived in community with lay volunteers and the Edmund Rice Christian Brothers. Her service project was at the Rebuild Center; a joint non-profit run by Lantern Light Ministry, The Harry Tompson Center, and DePaul Society. The Rebuild Center is a day center for the working poor and homeless of New Orleans that provided services such as obtaining birth certificates, identification, mail, showers, and hot meals.

Since then, Enlund has received her master’s degree in communications design at Pratt Institute, served on Iona’s Young Alumni committee, and works full time as a graphic designer. She is full of Gael pride and looks forward to fostering and maintaining relationships with fellow alumni.
