Kyle Byrne '15

At Iona, Kyle Byrne majored in mass communication with a minor in speech communication studies. While on campus, Kyle was the president of Iona College Television for two years. In addition, he was very active in volunteering and social justice advocacy. Kyle was a Student Campus Minister his senior year and directed the Kairos 9 (K9) weekend retreat, in addition to going on the Iona in Mission trips to Massachusetts, Detroit, Zambia and India. He is also a founding member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity.

Graduating cum laude, he was inducted into the mass communication and speech communication honor societies, and was the recipient of the Julia Freedman 2015 Commencement award, the Edmund Rice Leadership award and was a DeFeo Family Scholar.

Following graduation, Kyle moved to La Plata, Argentina to teach English and Media at a private school for two years. The special experiences Kyle had as an undergraduate inspired him to remain active in the Iona community and serve on the Alumni Association. Kyle is a Producer at Verizon FiOS 1 News in New York.
