The Iona College Campus Quad

Kevin R. Callahan '84

Choosing to attend Iona College was one of the very best decisions Kevin Callahan ‘84 has made in his life. Kevin received a great education at Iona and as a Rice Hall resident, was involved in student activities, residential life and Iona Basketball as an undergraduate. Kevin made lifelong friendships at Iona which continue to this very day. Kevin had the privilege of returning to Iona as Director of Alumni Relations from 1994-1996, during Brother Driscoll’s final year as Iona’s President and Brother Liguori’s inaugural year as President. As an alumnus, he has remained active in the alumni association over the past 37 years and has served on the Alumni Board for 16 years. He serves as Chair of the Iona Alumni Chapters Committee and has provided leadership to Iona’s chapters in South Florida, California and Washington, DC. Kevin and his wife, Anne, reside in Alexandria, Virginia with their two children, Aidan (a junior at Iona) and Mairead (a junior in high school).

Upon graduating from Iona, Kevin began his career working in the finance industry in operations and sales management on Wall Street, and in retail finance and banking. Since then, he has served for nearly 20 years in leadership roles in the not-for-profit sector, primarily in educational and social services settings, at the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA), Theological College of The Catholic University of America, Notre Dame High School in New Jersey and Covenant House.

Kevin currently serves as Director of Special Events and Community Relations at Support Our Aging Religious (SOAR!) in Washington, DC which raises critical funding for religious communities across the country and assists them in caring for their aging and infirm members. Kevin has accepted this nomination for another term because he believes his business background, experience in the non-profit sector and most importantly, his love for his alma mater will continue to prove an asset to the Iona College Alumni Association.
