BECOME A REUNION VOLUNTEER
Reunion committee volunteers are vital to the success of your class reunion. The Reunion Committee is actively engaged in the reunion planning and outreach process. The committee is responsible for encouraging attendance at Alumni & Family Weekend and for personalizing the class event(s) to make it an enjoyable experience for your classmates. Learn more.
Gaels Go Further Mentoring Programs
Iona University places high value on mentoring and is proud of the fact that our mentoring programs are a cornerstone of the Iona experience. Whether you are looking for career advice, insight into how to maximize your college career, feedback on an entrepreneurial idea, or someone to talk with about your life goals, we are confident you will find the right person to connect with through one of our programs. Alumni Regional and Affinity Chapters
Establish links with regional chapters; promote active involvement among affiliated groups. Develop and disseminate "best practices” to increase participation in and organization of geographic and affinity alumni chapters. Review chapter activities and recommend improvement.
Alumni Board of Directors
The Alumni Board of Directors is composed of 30 Iona alumni representing the over 50,000 Association members. Board members represent Iona's many class years, degree programs and campus activities. The Alumni Board of Directors works to foster connectivity and goodwill between the University and its graduates.The Board is comprised of a core group of volunteer ambassadors who, in partnership with the University, develop strategies and tactics designed to help fellow alumni understand and appreciate the spiritual, personal, professional and civic values Iona can continue to bring to them at all life stages. Board members will participate in the life of the University through ongoing financial support, volunteer service, idea generation and program assessment. Learn more.
Maroon & GOLD Council
The Maroon & GOLD Council (M&G) is a leadership organization dedicated to fostering and sustaining relationships with graduates of the last decade to keep them engaged and actively involved with the University. The Mission of the Maroon & GOLD Council is to foster relationships with young alumni that lead to lifetime involvement with the University. The M&G Council aims to be a resource for Iona alumni in their first decade after graduation while simultaneously working to strengthen the connection between the Iona student experience and the alumni community. This is achieved by creating a robust, dynamic organization that identifies and addresses the needs of young graduates and provides educational, philanthropic, social and networking opportunities that help meet these needs. ICON (Iona Community for Outreach and Networking)
Assist in the recruitment and retention of Iona students and the enhancement of their student life and experiences. Develop programs to allow alumni to more easily network for career assistance, mentoring, job referral, etc.
Research & Awards (Internal Affairs & Research)
Study alumni population trends through alumni surveys to help determine the programs and events that alumni would like the Alumni Association to sponsor. Monitor alumni services provided by peer and aspirant institutions. Nominate potential recipients for Alumni Awards which are then approved on a candidate-by-candidate basis by a simple majority vote of the full Board.
Nominate Commencement Speakers and Honorary Degree Recipients
President Seamus Carey, Ph.D., and the Board of Trustees of Iona University invite nominations for Commencement speakers and Honorary Degree recipients. Students, parents, alumni, faculty and staff are all welcome to participate in the nomination process. All nominees must reflect the values and mission of Blessed Edmund Rice, the Irish Christian Brothers and Iona University. The Committee will review nominees to determine if they meet our criteria.
