As Chairman and President of JLL’s New York Tri-state region, Peter Riguardi leads all operations for the firm in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. He is responsible for broadening the company’s local platform by developing key client relationships, leading major projects, maintaining senior real estate industry contacts and political relationships, and recruiting new talent. He oversees a team of almost 2,700 professionals in seven offices throughout the Tri-state area.
Under Peter’s leadership, JLL has established itself as a market leader in the New York Metropolitan area across all business lines, and the company’s market share, revenue and profitability have all increased substantially. Peter developed and implemented a program that has resulted in JLL’s expansion in the New York leasing and brokerage business, retail brokerage business, investment sales, project management, debt and finance teams, and corporate solutions specialty, which included attracting top talent from the industry and growing talent from within. 

Peter has been a leading New York City broker for more than 38 years, with many of his completed transactions ranking as New York’s largest and most complex.
Prior to joining JLL in September 2002, Peter was Vice Chairman and Principal of Colliers ABR Inc., a company that he helped found in 1994. He started his real estate career at GVA Williams in 1983, where he was the youngest senior vice president in the firm’s history. During his extensive career in commercial real estate, he has been actively involved in several of the largest and most noteworthy transactions in the New York Metropolitan area. Peter is consistently ranked by 
the New York Observer as one of New York’s most influential real estate executives.

  • Merrill Lynch: 1-million-s.f. development site in Jersey City, NJ; 760,000-s.f. acquisition of 2 Broadway; 350,000-s.f. acquisition for Tokyo, Japan, headquarters
  • Port Authority of New York & New Jersey: 750,000-s.f. lease at 4 World Trade Center
  • RXR Realty: 900,000-s.f. lease at 1285 Avenue of the Americas to UBS
  • Fosun International: 345,000-s.f. lease at 28 Liberty Street to the Office of the New York State Attorney General

Peter has been the agent for some of New York City’s most notable agency assignments and repositioning’s, such as:

  • Port Authority of New York & New Jersey: Advisor to the Port Authority on its redevelopment of the World Trade Center shortly after September 11, 2001 until most recently, which included negotiating on behalf of the Port Authority with Silverstein Properties, Durst Organization and Westfield, and coordinting all procedures for managing the complex; at peak the Port Authority had 50 team members dedicated to the World Trade Center project.
  • Moinian Group: hired to find development partners at 
    3 Hudson Boulevard, which resulted in a joint venture agreement with Boston Properties to build a 2-million-s.f. building; also retained as leasing agent.
    Education and affiliations

Peter holds degrees in marketing and finance from Iona College; he was recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree and served on the board of directors for 12 years. In the past several years, Peter has been an honoree for The Rabin Medical Center of Israel, Met Council, Muscular Dystrophy, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Special Olympics, United Way, The Police Athletic League, The Realty Foundation, the AIR Society and St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters.

In 2017, Peter received The Real Estate Board of New York’s Louis Smadbeck Memorial Broker Recognition Award, which celebrates a commercial broker with exceptional personal and professional integrity, leadership, prominence in the brokerage community, and service to REBNY’s committees.

Peter serves on the Board of Governors for the REBNY and is an active member of the organization’s senior leadership. Peter is also an active Board Member of the American Red Cross NY Chapter. He serves on many boards and is an active philanthropist. Peter is also a partner in renowned baseball publication Baseball of America.

Peter is a licensed real estate broker in the State of New York and resides in Manhattan.
