Caress A. Penelton '87

In the time since Caress Penelton studied at Iona College, she has indeed gone on to move the world, with a career that has taken her from New York to Texas and even Singapore.

Caress is an executive director for Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) group for JPMorgan Chase in Plano, Texas. She is currently head of Sustained Engineering Strategic Execution, chartered with working across JPMorgan business lines and technology product teams in preparing comprehensive migration solutions and technology roadmaps for occupation of the new North America Data Centers.

At JPMorgan, Caress recently moved from Consumer and Community Banking (CCB) where she ran the CCB Business Resiliency Planning and Testing Group globally. In July 2018, Caress returned from 5+ year assignment in Singapore where she was the regional COO for GTI APAC. In the COO role, she provided oversight for Business Management, Program Management, Risk and Controls, Centralized Functions, Organizational Strategy, GTI governance, Communications and Strategic regional initiatives.

Prior to these assignments in Asia, Caress lead the GTI Program Delivery team that supported large strategic corporate initiatives spanning all of GTI technologies across the firm. She was responsible for multiple complex program delivery efforts including providing liaison services to the lines of business and acting as an escalation point for infrastructure initiatives.

Caress began her technology career at Consolidated Edison of New York holding various positions along the project development spectrum before relocating to Maryland to become the systems and programming manager for the St. Paul Companies. In this role she led development teams through all phases of the software development life cycle in order to deliver new products and functionality for the commercial insurance group.

Throughout her tenure at JPMorgan, Caress has represented her line of business, GTI, as a diversity champion. She has been a major sponsor for diversity throughout the United States and Asia region, and has been involved in forums including the Women's Mentoring Circle. Caress is a lifetime member of the National Black MBA Association and served on the Executive Board of the Columbus Chapter for four years. She has served as the co-chair of Bold Columbus, the African American employee network at JPMorgan Chase, dedicated to the empowerment and professional development of African Americans at the firm. She is also a proud mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

A native of New York, Caress is a member of Calvary Chapel in Ft Lauderdale, FL. She earned her BA degree, cum laude, from Iona College and her MBA degree from Loyola College of Maryland. She received her Project Management Professional certification (PMP) in 2003 and actively maintains accreditation. In her spare time, Ms. Penelton is an avid golfer who loves to travel and enjoys participating in 5k runs/walks for organizations such as Race for the Cure and the March of Dimes.

Caress is a professional member of NAPO, the National Association of Productivity & Organizing, and recently formed Caress Organized Designs LLC, giving support to people in life circumstance transition by ensuring an individual’s home environment supports their current conditions.
